from thomas voeckler’s time in yellow, to the one-two punch of the schleck brothers, to amazing examples of cadel evans courage in pulling the peleton up col du galibier – which if you’ve ever ridden it is no easy ride – we have been spoilt in the athletic pursuit which is le tour de france

congratulations must go to cadel evans for his step up on the top of the podium. he has proven his worth and value as an elite athlete – and shown just what hard work will get you

commiserations to andy schlek for a smart, tactical ride in this year’s tour. no doubt he will be back next year for more

alberto contador must also get a nod for his effort at winning 3 grand tours on the trot. whatever your thoughts on the clembuterol saga – and certainly the uci should be dragged over the coals for their lack of attention to resolving the issue – he was under the pump both athletically and psychologically

yet let’s not forget the outstanding performance of thomas voeckler. if sheer guts and courage were the winning factors this man would be in yellow
